Geelong invention test offers $50,000 in prizes for IT entrepreneurs
An investment pitching competition hosted by ICT Geelong is once again offering $50,000 in prizes to talented IT entrepreneurs.
One of the attractions to this year’s competition will be an exclusive invitation for the top 10 submissions to attend an innovation masterclass facilitated by innovation experts and free tickets to a high impact forum and Innovation Masterclass to be held mid next year in Geelong.
Also, the top three submissions will have the opportunity to pitch to the Geelong Angels Investors Network.
"There is a growing appetite for entrepreneurship and innovation in the knowledge economy in Geelong. This is reinforced by the establishment of the Geelong Angel Investment Network, the HeadStart Accelerator and the potential development of co-working spaces,” says Mr Aamir Qutub, general manager of ICT Geelong.
iHorizon, a cloud-based enterprise planning & forecasting solution for big business, won the IT Invention Test in 2014.
Mr Qutub said like all past winners iHorizon exemplified the “importance of providing a complete commercialisation pathway in Geelong for IT ventures with high potential – from pitching education to world-class entrepreneurship education, physical space and access to mentors and capital. These elements are certainly coming together in Geelong.

The closing date for submissions to this year’s IT invention test is 7 October. Winners will be announced October 24.
